The La Plata Planning Commission received three informational items at the meeting: a land condominium on North Maple Avenue that created divested parcels without a subdivision, the commission's January elections for chair and vice chair, and notice of Charles County's proposed amendments to its comprehensive water and sewer plan.
Silvia Craze, contract certified planner for the town of La Plata, described the North Maple action as a "land condominium" that allowed the owner to divide the property into two separately sellable parcels without the subdivision process. Craze told commissioners: "The planning commission has no role because this is not going through subdivision. The plat has been signed and recorded."
On elections, planning staff confirmed that, under the commission's rules, officers are chosen in the first month of each year and that elections will be held at the January meeting. Commissioners were advised to prepare nominations at that time.
County-level changes to the Charles County comprehensive water and sewer plan were presented as an informational item. Craze said the amendments change water/sewer classifications for several properties; she said it was not immediately clear whether the county changes would have a direct or indirect impact on the town and that she would investigate further if the commission wanted more detail.
These items were informational; no formal actions or votes were taken.
