WASHINGTON — The Washington City Council voted unanimously Sept. 10 to approve zone change Z-25-19, expanding a previously approved PUDC to include roughly 20 additional acres at 650 East Ara Parkway for a commercial/industrial distribution center.
Community Development Director Eldon Gip told the council the applicant proposes to develop the added acreage to match the previously approved plan; staff reviewed the materials and raised no concerns. Gip said the Planning Commission reviewed the request on Sept. 3 and unanimously recommended approval based on findings and conditions in the staff report.
Council members asked a brief clarifying question about whether the new acreage would be subject to the same rules as the original PUDC; Gip confirmed it would. A motion to approve Z-25-19 passed on a roll‑call vote; council members recorded votes in the affirmative and the motion carried unanimously.
The approval allows the applicant to proceed with development consistent with the PUDC's approved exterior building elevations, landscaping theme, parking counts and use list, subject to the conditions included in the staff report.
