The Public Safety Committee approved a resolution to amend the sheriff’s addendum to the county personnel policy to add Good Friday and the day after Thanksgiving as holidays and authorized moving the resolution to the county board.
A presenter explained the addendum change is intended to align the sheriff’s personnel addendum with county holiday changes and that the county is also preparing a memorandum of understanding with the collective bargaining unit to amend the existing contract. The presenter confirmed deputies will continue to receive existing holiday provisions such as birthdays and that the holiday change results in 12 holidays across employee groups.
The committee approved the resolution on a voice vote after a motion from Chad and a second from Julie. Committee members voted “aye” with no recorded opposition and requested staff forward the resolution to the county board for final action.
