Pontiac election commission approves language for Nov. 4, 2025 ballot

Most important details: the commission noted Pontiac has 14 precincts; each voter’s ballot will include the mayor’s race and the citywide council member at-large race (voters may select only one at-large candidate). Under the new charter, the council will include one at-large seat and six district seats (down from seven under the previous arrangement), and voters will cast a vote for the single district seat in which they reside. For the library board, 12 candidates are on the ballot and voters may vote for up to six candidates, because the board has six seats. The back of the ballot will contain a millage renewal question described by the commission as a “building and site sinking fund” renewal for the Pontiac School District.
Actions and other business: the commission also approved the meeting agenda and the minutes of a prior meeting, excused two members from the session and adjourned. All recorded motions during the session passed by unanimous recorded tallies of three yes votes and no nays.
