Mark (Parks) told the board crews had laid about 72,000 square feet of sod on Mercer Park’s south side and planted roughly 34 trees; benches and trash cans are in place and trail work on the south end is largely complete. Staff said the overall Mercer Park scope — including a future pavilion and playground on the south side — will be reviewed with City Council during a July 1 study session; further design work will follow council direction.
Staff also reported weather-related delays affecting contractor scheduling; frequent rain has pushed back some contractor tasks and the parks team is working to get contractors caught up. Separately, an inclusive We-Go-Round (enclosed merry-go-round) funded in part by a Rotary Club donation is due for delivery the week after this meeting; field crews are preparing the site and staff expected the feature to be open around the Fourth of July weekend or shortly thereafter. The Rotary Club donation toward that equipment was reported as $40,000.
Dutch Village playground equipment remains on order with an estimated 14–15 week lead time; staff said an ETA will likely be available by August. Parks staff also noted ongoing boiler repairs at facilities and that closures or service interruptions will be posted on the city website if they extend.
No formal action was taken; staff said they will return with design updates and photos as installations complete.
