Sayreville district honors occupational therapist Cheryl Pullman on retirement after 20 years

The Sayreville Board of Education recognized district occupational therapist Cheryl Pullman, who will retire effective Nov. 1 after 20 years of service to the district. In remarks during the personnel portion of the meeting, the superintendent and colleagues praised Pullman's work in special services, kindergarten readiness and creation of a sensory pathway at Arlith Elementary School.
Colleagues said Pullman developed classroom toolboxes for kindergarten and first grade motor skills, supported the autism fair and collaborated with speech and physical therapists as part of individualized student planning. "Through her dedication to the profession and her students, Mrs. Pullman has left her mark at the Arluth Elementary School and our entire district. Mrs. Pullman, we wish you nothing but the very best in your retirement," a district official said at the meeting.
Board members also noted Pullman's prior clinical experience working with pediatric patients and described her evaluations and recommendations as thorough and individualized. The district wished her well and said staff would miss her institutional knowledge and student-centered work.
