The update matters because the Branch Connections programs and the Senior Advisory Board depend on the facility’s reopening to resume regular operations. Staff said progress on utilities and the backup generator are key steps before move-in.
Staff described the current status: cabinet millwork is in place in offices; internet connectivity is being established to support AV installation; ballroom chairs have been received and are stored; and a backup generator pad is complete and awaiting a permit and inspection. “In theory, the backup generator should be complete before the end of this month,” the staff member said. After the generator inspection, staff said bringing power to the building is expected to take less than three days to connect.
Staff cautioned that the generator and utility work are components of the project and that the installation of the generator does not by itself constitute final move-in. Staff said they are meeting with contractors to firm up a definitive move-in date and promised to notify board members and to begin marketing and communication about the reopening once that date is set.
Board members asked about specific finishes such as ballroom floors and wall panels; staff said overhead lighting work is underway and that the floor will be redone toward the end of the renovation schedule. No formal action was taken; staff will provide an update to the board when a move-in date is confirmed.
