The City of Falls City Council granted the Chamber permission to use the city-owned grass lot north of the library and to close Stone Street between 15th and 18th streets for a lighted Christmas parade on Nov. 29, 2024. The council vote was unanimous.
Staff explained the change was prompted by utility infrastructure work that removed a prior power source at the mini park used in previous years. Organizers plan to place Santa's house on the city-owned lot across the street, where street-light power or the adjacent building owner (Ben Howard) can supply electricity for decorations and Santa's needs. Parks staff said they will make minor TLC improvements to the Santa structure before the event.
Council approved blocking off parking on the 1500–1700 block of Stone Street between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on the date requested to facilitate parade viewing and safety. No opposition or formal conditions were recorded in the meeting minutes for the request.
