The Jones County Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of a conditional‑use request from Leroy Mahoney to place a single‑wide manufactured home on a 2.01‑acre parcel at 505 Mountain Springs Road in an agricultural‑rural zone.
Mahoney said he purchased the property several years ago and it originally had a single‑wide; he told the commission he intends to replace it with a new single‑wide. "I wanna do new a new structure," he said at the hearing. His wife attended the meeting in support.
Staff told the commission that the county applies standards to used manufactured homes, including an age cutoff of June 15, 1976, and that installation of an older unit requires a $750 bond that is released after completion and compliance with standards. The commission moved and voted to recommend approval; the recommendation will be presented to the Board of Commissioners for final action.
