The Jones County Planning and Zoning Commission voted to recommend approval of a conditional‑use request to allow a single‑family dwelling with metal siding on a 1.32‑acre parcel at 240 C Plenitude Church Road in a rural‑residential zone.
Applicant Paul Chiefs told the commission he purchased the property, removed an existing doublewide and plans a single house sited next to his son so he can be near family. "It's just gonna be a small house inside of a garage, like a barndominium type thing," Chiefs said. He said he plans to use basic metal siding in white with black trim and no exterior wood porch accents.
There was no public opposition at the hearing. A commissioner moved to approve the conditional use and the commission voted to forward a recommendation of approval to the Board of Commissioners; the Board will consider the request at its next meeting for final action.
