The Farmers Branch Senior Advisory Board set a Sept. 15 deadline for submissions to a time capsule that will be buried during the center’s Sept. 20 social program.
Board members said the capsule will include member-submitted items such as recipes and photographs taken by staff, at least one quilt block and printed rules or score sheets for games played at the center. A board member noted volunteers had been collecting items during recent events and asked members to bring contributions to the front desk or to submit items to staff before the cutoff.
Board members discussed logistics — who would compile and assemble the items and a proposed re-opening date roughly 25 years in the future — and encouraged program participants to contribute at upcoming events. No formal vote was required; the board will continue collecting items under the existing schedule and staff will coordinate final collection and encapsulation.
