The Farmers Branch Senior Advisory Board discussed changing its regular monthly meeting from the second Thursday to the first Thursday and directed staff to place a formal vote on the board’s Oct. 9 agenda.
Board members raised the issue because a long-serving volunteer, who helps with several center programs, cannot attend on the second Thursday. Jackie, staff member, said the change must be placed on a future agenda and formally approved before it can take effect.
Members considered alternatives (first, fourth or third Thursday) and discussed calendar conflicts: adopting the fourth Thursday would create Thanksgiving- and Christmas-week conflicts in November and December; adopting the first Thursday would put meetings on Nov. 6 and Dec. 4. The board agreed to propose the first-Thursday option and to vote on it at the Oct. 9 meeting, with any approved change to be reported to the city secretary for scheduling updates.
No formal schedule change was voted at the Sept. 11 meeting; the action agreed was to bring a motion for consideration and vote on Oct. 9. Staff said the board’s standing schedule and published calendar must be updated after a vote.
