Staff Member 2 (Staff member, Cartwright Elementary District (4282)) emphasized specific preparation, asking, "Cómo está haciendo mi hijo... en qué puedo yo ayudar en la casa. Preguntas que tal vez si no se escriben se pueden olvidar, pero eso sería muy importante que se se prepararan haciendo preguntas y escribirlas."

The staff advised parents to write questions before the conference to avoid forgetting important points and to review student strengths and areas needing support. As Staff Member 1 put it, "Escribir las preguntas antes de la reunión asegura que no se olviden puntos importantes."

Both staff members said conferences should cover classroom performance (following directions, completing work, comprehension of material) and social-emotional development. Staff Member 2 said, "El desarrollo social y emocional es tan importante como las calificaciones," and recommended sharing information about a child’s life outside school to help teachers connect learning to the student’s home context: "Compartir información sobre la vida de su hijo fuera de la escuela ayuda a los maestros a conectarse mejor y apoyarlos de manera significativa."

Staff Member 2 described how the school sets classroom goals and the role of parents in tracking progress and adjusting supports: "Hacemos metas en el salón para para mirar el progreso... para los padres es muy importante también que sepan si estamos... vamos a poder hacer las metas o necesitamos de ajustar algo, cómo se puede ayudar."

For ongoing communication after conferences, staff recommended ParentSquare as the primary platform and noted email or phone as alternatives: "La mejor comunicación, tal vez, sería ParentSquare. Todos los maestros están en ParentSquare... Otras formas de comunicación sería por correo electrónico o teléfono."
