Weston trustees appoint Luis Lopez Cereo to fill trustee vacancy, swear him in

The Village of Weston Board of Trustees appointed Luis Lopez Cereo to fill a current trustee vacancy and administered the oath of office at the meeting.
Trustees used a randomized interview order for four candidates and conducted each interview with the same questions from Administrator Jamie Gibbard. After interviews, trustees cast written ballots; the clerk reported four ballots for Luis Lopez Cereo and two for another candidate (Brent Olsen). Trustee Cronin moved to appoint Luis Lopez Cereo; Trustee Hermelin seconded. The board approved the appointment by voice vote and then administered the oath to Lopez Cereo.
Lopez Cereo recited the oath: “I, Louis Lopes Serrau, who have been duly appointed to the position of trustee for the village of Weston and have not yet entered upon the duties thereof, swear and affirm that I will support the constitution of the state of Wisconsin and will faithfully and impartially discharge the duties to the best of my abilities. So help me God.” He then signed the oath paperwork and was welcomed to the board; trustees said committee assignments would be considered and that several commission openings remain for volunteers.
The appointment followed the board’s stated process to have identical interview questions for each candidate and to use a written-selection step. Trustees noted they will follow up with committee placement and encouraged other applicants to consider commission or committee service.
