Wilson County budget committee elects chair, vice chair by acclamation

The committee opened the meeting with nominations for chair. A member nominated “Mr. Morello,” and, after no other nominations, the committee moved to close nominations and elect by acclamation. Members voiced “aye” and the motion carried. The committee then opened nominations for vice chair; Justin Schmidt was nominated, received a second and was elected by affirmation.
The committee proceeded to routine business including approval of minutes and the finance director’s report. Public comment was called and none was offered.
The leadership votes were procedural actions required for committee organization; no contested ballots or recorded roll-call votes were taken during either election.
