Cheyenne committee recommends $95,564 purchase of front-load sanitation containers

The Cheyenne Finance Committee on Aug. 19 recommended accepting a $95,564 low bid from Custom Concepts of Casper, Wyoming to supply 4-yard, 6-yard and 8-yard front-load containers for the city's sanitation division.
Craig LaVoy, Public Works staff, said, "This is a bid to get 4 yard, 6 yard, and 8 yard front load containers for our sanitation department. We've received 2 bids, 1 from Coise Brothers and Custom Concepts, and the total cost was $95,564. And that winning bid was from Custom Concepts from Casper Wyoming, and we recommend a" (recommendation continued in meeting). The purchase is to be paid from the solid waste fund.
Committee member Moody moved to accept the bid; committee member Roybal seconded. The chair called the vote and members indicated their approval; the committee recommended acceptance to the governing-body Monday meeting. During discussion LaVoy said the containers "can usually get 7 to 10 years" of service, but that placement and use affect lifespan and that food waste can accelerate rusting compared with dry goods.
The committee recorded no public comment on the item at the committee meeting. The committee's action was a recommendation to the governing body; final contract award and payment will occur if the governing body approves the recommendation at its next meeting.
