A federal certification review of the Tampa–St. Petersburg Transportation Management Area completed this year highlighted five noteworthy practices for the Pasco County MPO and issued four non‑corrective recommendations, a federal presenter told the board Aug. 21.
The review team commended the MPO’s collaborative structure with Pasco County and partners, its visible road safety audits in Zephyrhills that involved elected officials and residents, exemplary public outreach during development of the long‑range plan (including more than 1,100 MetroQuest survey respondents), data‑driven project prioritization in the long‑range transportation plan and an interactive, searchable Transportation Improvement Program.
The federal review offered four recommendations to strengthen documentation and programming: ensure coordinated processes with FDOT result in the annual obligations list including transit projects; document processes so transit safety targets are reflected in the long‑range plan and the Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan; evaluate the frequency of Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) updates to keep the document current on the MPO website; and clearly identify all federal fund sources in the UPWP and document FTA formula and discretionary planning awards in the program as appropriate.
The presenter closed by saying the review found no corrective actions. Board members had no questions following the presentation.
