Council approves removal of two parcels from Janssen agricultural protection area in Nibley

The Cache County Council voted to approve the voluntary removal of two parcels from the Janssen Agricultural Protection Zone after a staff presentation and recommendation.
Angie Zetterquist, interim director of development services, explained the county code and state code process for creating and removing agricultural protection areas. She said the removal is a voluntary request from the property owner and that no county fee applies. Council members confirmed the parcels total about 19 acres in Nibley and that the agricultural protection designation automatically renews unless the county acts; Zetterquist said the county’s tracking for the 20‑year review trigger is imperfect.
A council member moved to approve the application to remove the parcels (identified as partial parcel numbers 03‑003‑0020 and 03‑012) from the Janssen Agricultural Protection Zone; another council member seconded the motion. The council voted by voice to grant the removal. Staff noted the request had completed required paperwork and advisory‑board review and that removal will be reflected on county maps and records.
