The city approved an $11,000,862 increase to Clark Construction Company’s construction management agreement for the new fire department training facility at 850 Pinell Street NW, bringing the contract’s not-to-exceed total to $40,097,754.
Staff said the new Kendall Fire Station recently completed and the training facility is the next major project for the department. City staff said the $11 million increase covers the final phase of Clark’s bidding and construction management scope. The agenda memo and staff noted a separate burn-building project on the same site will be funded through grant money and must be bid separately per grant rules.
Commissioners asked about the funding mix. Staff noted roughly $15 million in state funding for the broader project and about $1.5 million in federal dollars related to the burn building; the city will cover capital and reserve fund contributions as well. The measure passed unanimously.
