Board thanks outgoing student members, introduces four incoming student board members
Summary
At the June meeting the board and superintendent thanked outgoing student board members for their service, heard student reflections about the value of the role, and introduced four incoming student board members who will be sworn in in August.
Board members and administrators praised outgoing student board members for their contributions and introduced the students appointed to serve in the next school year.
Outgoing student board members described how the role expanded their understanding of budgeting, staffing and governance and urged incoming students to record their accomplishments for future applications. ‘‘I learned so much about professionalism and how to be an effective and productive member of a board,’’ a student board member said.
The board introduced four incoming student board members by name and committee assignment: James Wyatt (two‑year calendar work; will sit on monthly board meetings), Evelyn Sadarcek (curriculum committee), Abby Carroll (finance and facilities committee) and Ryan Gleason (monthly board meetings liaison). The board noted a press release would be issued the following day announcing the appointments and said the incoming student board members will be sworn in at the August 18 meeting.
Administrators said they had shifted student appointments to summer so the incoming student members have time to meet before the school year and attend multiple early meetings. The board presented small tokens of appreciation to outgoing students and encouraged them to track their contributions for future college and job materials.
No formal vote was reported on the floor during the meeting; staff indicated appointments had been made and a public release would follow.
