Board approves 30‑day vehicle lease to Howard County after patrol cars damaged by gunfire

The Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors on June 9 authorized the county chair to sign a one‑month vehicle lease agreement with Howard County to loan a patrol vehicle after Howard County reported two patrol vehicles damaged in a shooting incident.
Conservation Director Chad Humble told the board he offered an extra vehicle to Howard County so Howard deputies would have transport while their vehicles were repaired. Humble said he discussed the lease and insurance with the county’s insurance representative, and the lease includes a nominal $1 term and requires Howard County to maintain insurance on the vehicle.
Supervisor Scott moved to approve the vehicle rental agreement and authorize the board chair’s signature; the motion passed on a roll call vote, 4–0, with one supervisor absent.
Humble said the lease begins June 9 for 30 days and can be terminated earlier by either party. The chair will sign the county’s copy and arrange for the Howard County chair to sign on Howard County’s side.
