Westborough to hire consultant for K–3 redistricting; plan due in January
Summary
The district has engaged Dillinger Research and Applied Data for K–3 redistricting work and will form a steering and strategic committee; a redistricting plan is expected to come to the school committee in January with monthly updates beginning in October.
Superintendent Allison told the school committee the district has selected Dillinger Research and Applied Data, a small, women‑and‑veteran‑led consulting firm, to support K–3 redistricting work.
The district began weekly steering check‑ins with principals and administration and plans to convene a broader strategic committee that will include parent representatives and school staff to guide community engagement. Allison said the lead consultant will attend school‑committee meetings beginning in October and then monthly until the process concludes.
"The real goal is to have a plan that we bring to you in January," Allison said, adding that the main objective is to even out enrollment across elementary buildings; she noted the recently built school at Fales (referred to in discussion) is under‑enrolled compared with the other two schools.
The administration emphasized a tight timeline: weekly steering meetings are already underway, and the district will hold community meetings and outreach as part of the process. No formal vote occurred at the Sept. 24 meeting beyond announcing consultant engagement and the planned schedule.
