The fiscal committee on Sept. 23 approved a contract with Civil Technologies for a complaint and case management system that staff said will let residents track complaints from intake through resolution.
“Community members who contact our office and say, ‘hey, we want to file a complaint,’ will be able to look from their side and see where the complaint is in the process, get regular updates,” said Mister Davis, a city staff member who presented the item. He added the system will also be available to the Office of Equity and Engagement’s human-rights ordinance cases.
In committee discussion, a commissioner asked whether complainants or staff would view the back-end. Mister Davis clarified that complainants will receive a case number that they can enter on a web page to see status updates such as “investigation stage” or “resolved” and next steps.
The committee voted to approve the contract; the meeting record shows committee members said “aye” and the chair indicated the motion carried.
No detailed implementation schedule or training timeline was specified in the discussion on the floor; staff indicated the system will increase transparency and customer service.
