At its Dec. 17 meeting the Sayreville Board of Education recognized departing members Pat Walsh, Danielle Pylock and Anthony Esposito and presented commemorative plaques and remarks acknowledging their service.
Speakers and fellow board members praised the departing members for contributions ranging from athletics and budget oversight to school safety and curriculum development. The administration and other board members thanked the trio for long service and said their contributions had lasting effects on programs and district operations.
Board members also debated, and ultimately tabled, a motion to extend the public-comment period to five minutes for outgoing members and others. A board member proposed the change and asked that exceptions be available for language that becomes disparaging; after discussion the motion was tabled until the next meeting for further board consideration.
The board adjourned with holiday remarks and best wishes to the departing members; details on the tabling motion will return on a future agenda.
