Village approves easement to reroute Lineville Road water main near Starbucks

The Suamico Village Board unanimously approved an easement on Monday to relocate a segment of the village water main along Lineville Road, east of the Cornell/Starbucks area, to avoid a congested utility corridor.

Public Works Director Smith told the board the existing utility runs through a cluster of cabinets and underground lines and that relocating the main “will help redundancy in our system and reliability.” Smith described the site as “a bowl of spaghetti” of utilities where other utilities have encroached around the village’s water main and said the change will make repairs faster and safer.

The easement was provided by the property owner at no cost, Director Smith said. The new easement will run adjacent to an existing 60‑foot utility easement and accommodates minor relocation grading and a continuous water main alignment that avoids overhead and underground conflicts.

Trustee Romas moved to approve the village signing the easement; Trustee Neto seconded. The motion passed unanimously in a roll call vote (7‑0).

The board packet included a site plan and easement exhibits. Staff said construction and grading will provide ADA‑compliant trail access at nearby roundabouts and that the owner — Midwest Expansion — cooperated in providing the easement. No purchase price was reported in meeting materials.

What happens next: Public works will finalize plans and implement the relocation as part of the Lineville Road reconstruction work. Staff indicated the realignment is intended to reduce operational risk at a heavily congested utility intersection and to integrate with existing trail and roundabout access improvements.
