Board approves $31,775 addendum for B-Line soil testing and soil removal

The Board of Public Works on July 1 approved addendum No. 1 to the services agreement with Karamida for additional soil investigation related to the B-Line extension near Adams Street and for removal and transport of approximately 250 cubic yards of unsuitable soil to Danville, Indiana.
Roy Aten of the city engineering department said initial testing found the site once housed a salvage yard; the addendum provides additional testing and the 250 cubic yard removal. The addendum increases the contract by $31,775, bringing the final not-to-exceed amount to $37,115, staff reported.
"This is our B-Line project ... this is an addendum to that agreement that will provide additional soil testing for the area, and then also the removal of some 250 cubic yards of suitable soil that will be transported up to Danville, Indiana," Aten said. He told the board the original services agreement was approved March 25 and the addendum covers newly identified needs from the testing.
No public comment was offered on the item. A board member moved and seconded the addendum; roll call recorded Carone and Board President Kyla Cox Deckard voting Aye and the motion passed.
