The Board of Public Works on Wednesday approved road and lane closures requested by Reed and Sons to cap sanitary sewer lines for the Hub 2 development, authorizing weekday closures from July 7 through July 30 with nightly reopenings.
Kyle Ball of Kyle Ball Engineering presented the request, describing three closures: North Lincoln Street between the 1303 and 1355 addresses, North Washington Street between the 1311 and 1317 addresses, and a westbound lane shift on East 17th Street adjacent to 219 East 17th. The work is staged, starting on Washington, then Lincoln, and finally East 17th.
When asked, Mr. Ball said the closures are intended as weekday-only and that the contractor would reopen the streets nightly; if a street cut is required the contractor will place steel plates to keep the roadway passable. He said the contractor will coordinate with individual property owners to maintain access or make alternate arrangements for tenants in affected properties. For the lane shift on East 17th, staff clarified the lane will be flagged for both eastbound and westbound traffic.
