The Farmers Branch Senior Advisory Board voted to submit volunteer Leah Jean Rupert (name recorded in the meeting as presented) for the center’s next spotlight award and set the recognition for Sept. 8, the board said.
The board’s subcommittee reports also covered Veterans Day planning and final renovation work. The Veterans Day committee confirmed commemorative gifts — a challenge coin and a commemorative coffee cup bearing the Veterans Day logo and Branch Connection mark — and said the items will be distributed as in prior years during the program.
On renovations, staff reported two remaining categories of work: audio-video connections throughout the building (including a lapel mic hookup for the kitchen and a building-wide announcement microphone) and finishing the ballroom/bar-room floor (timing dependent on season and staining). Staff said AV contractors were scheduled to work the following day and that final floor staining and trim would likely push completion toward September.
During the spotlight discussion the board moved and seconded the nomination; the motion carried with a voice vote and the recognition was scheduled for Sept. 8. The board also approved the meeting minutes from July 10 by motion earlier in the meeting.
No litigation, ordinance changes or external approvals were required; the items were routine board business and subcommittee updates.
