The Farmers Branch Senior Advisory Board voted unanimously Thursday to change its regular monthly meeting from the second Thursday to the first Thursday of each month, at the same start time.
Board members said the shift is intended to avoid holiday conflicts and make attendance easier. "I would like to have it at the first of the month. And the reason I suggest that is because at the end of the month of November, we have Thanksgiving and people are gonna be going and possibly out of town," said Deborah Long, vice chair of the Farmers Branch Senior Advisory Board.
At the meeting, Deborah Long made the motion to change meeting dates; Mary Croissant seconded the motion. A vote by show of hands passed the motion unanimously. Board members discussed calendar conflicts for 2026 and noted that, for example, July 4 falls on a Saturday and would not conflict with a first-Thursday schedule.
The board also confirmed that the advisory board's next regular meeting will be held Nov. 6, 2025, and members were told an updated board calendar for 2026 will be distributed. No additional policy changes were attached to the scheduling motion.
Board members who spoke in favor said the new schedule should reduce the need to reschedule around holidays and improve consistency of attendance.
