Madison Local Schools staff told the board the district will replace the roof on the industrial arts wing this summer, covering the drafting room, weight room and wood shop, and that the work will be paid from permanent improvement funds.
A district staff member said, "We are putting a roof on the pack, the Industrial arts wing, which is the drafting room, the weight room, and the wood shop. We are gonna do that section of the roof this summer. We use state term pricing. We had enough money in our permanent improvement to do it." When asked for clarification, the staff member confirmed the work is a full roof replacement, not a patch: "This is a new roof." The staff member also said the district will follow state term pricing for procurement.
Why it matters: replacing a roof on instructional spaces affects safety, the learning environment and capital budgets. Board members did not vote on the project during this portion of the meeting; staff indicated funds are already allocated in permanent improvement and that the work will proceed this summer.
