Board approves $2,050 quote to add exterior drain for Heritage Center sprinkler system; repairs continuing

The Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors approved a quote to install a drain for quick discharge of the Heritage Center sprinkler system and received an update on ongoing repair and renovation work at the facility.
Dave (Facilities/Staff) reported that interior painting, texturing and tile installation are complete, and that trim and final waxing work were scheduled; sprinkler heads and ductwork work will follow. He said the contractor expects to finish the remaining interior work by the coming Sunday and then complete exterior and final mechanical items.
The board considered a quote from Blackhawk (sprinkler contractor) to install a drain pipe so the system can be drained quickly to the outside lawn in the event of maintenance or emergency. Staff recommended using $2,050 from the Heritage Center budget to install the drain at the time the sprinkler heads are reinstalled after painting. A motion to approve the expenditure passed and the vendor was authorized to proceed.
Discussion: Board members noted that performing the drain installation while painting and other interior work are underway saved mobilization costs. Supervisors also discussed insurance reimbursement and that staff expects the county will soon receive the insurer’s check to cover repair costs.
Next steps: Staff will instruct the contractor to complete the drain installation when sprinkler work resumes and will return invoices for payment to the board.
