The Board of Public Works approved a temporary pedestrian diversion and closure of the west sidewalk along South Walnut Street to support utility tie-in work for the Winston Thomas Fire Training and Logistics Station project.
Staff said the work will require removal of an existing sidewalk section to tie into the new sidewalk; traffic control and pedestrian diversion will be in place from Oct. 13 through Dec. 25, with actual sidewalk closure for one to two days for the tie-in work. Engineering staff said pedestrian access will be maintained using the new sidewalk section once it is in place.
A board member moved to approve the closure; after a second, the motion passed with recorded aye votes from Roach and Caron. Staff did not report any outstanding objections from the public during the item’s hearing.
