City staff said the lights will replace previously removed COBRA-head fixtures and provide added street lighting along East Third Street. The board’s preliminary approval indicates the city will accept an encroachment agreement after the lights are installed and inspected; the formal agreement and as-built construction details will be completed before maintenance responsibilities transfer.
Engineering staff told the board the fixtures will be privately owned and maintained by the convention center. A board member asked why the encroachment agreement could not be approved immediately; staff replied the formal agreement will be completed once the installation matches the approved plans. After discussion, a member moved preliminary approval; the motion passed on recorded aye votes from Roach and Caron.
Staff said additional formal documentation will be provided when installation plans and final locations are verified.
