Barnstable High School senior Nick Ramos was honored May 7 as a superintendent's academic excellence award recipient for outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements.
Superintendent Ahern described Ramos as among the top 5% of his class and noted the student's perfect math SAT score and a 4.71 weighted GPA. "Nick had the perfect score on the math SAT, making him among the top 1% of test takers," the superintendent said, listing national and regional awards, AP coursework and art achievements.
Ramos told the committee he will attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology next year to study biological chemical engineering with a minor in design. "I'll be attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology next year studying, biological chemical engineering... and minoring in design," Ramos said.
Committee members congratulated Ramos and highlighted his combination of academic, artistic and extracurricular accomplishments. No committee action was required; the recognition was part of the committee's highlights in education.
