Court awards Greasy Creek Community Center rebuild to Elliott Contracting for $499,750

Pike County Fiscal Court voted to award a construction contract to Elliott Contracting for the rebuild of the Greasy Creek Community Center, approving a bid of $499,750.
Kevin Gillum of Summit Engineering (retained architect) told the court that three bids were opened and Elliott Contracting’s low bid—$499,750—was recommended; the bid includes a new parking area. Gillum said the total equates to about $260 per square foot compared with an earlier community center that cost roughly $150 per square foot when built.
Court members noted that the previous Greasy Creek Community Center had been “burnt down by a parent,” described during the agenda item as an arson. After a motion by Commissioner Atkins and a second by Commissioner Scott, the court voted by roll call to approve the contract award to Elliott Contracting.
Summit Engineering will proceed with contractor arrangements and construction scheduling; court members did not attach additional conditions during the meeting.
