Elmwood Park Community Unit School District 401 reported strong attendance at a recent open house, with a staff member saying, "We filled probably more than half of the auditorium for introductory speech and more kept coming as the night went on."
The staff member said families toured the building, met teachers and learned about classroom curriculum. "Parents got to tour the building and meet all the teachers, learn about the curriculum and, what happens in all the different classrooms," the staff member said.
The event included a supervised drop-off program called Tigers Den that allowed parents to leave children for activities while they walked the school, the staff member said. "We did have a Tigers Den, which allowed some parents to drop off their kids while they did some fantastic activities and parents could walk around worry free," the staff member said.
Raffle tickets were distributed by mail and in classrooms, and staff announced three major prize winners at the end of the evening, according to the transcript. "We also had 3 big winners with the raffle tickets that were handed out through the mail and in each classroom. So those were announced at the end of the evening," the staff member said.
The transcript does not specify the date of the open house, a final attendance figure or additional operational details such as supervision ratios in Tigers Den or prize descriptions for the raffle.
