Board members and staff reviewed recent and upcoming Branch Connection programs and agreed to continue several activities while adjusting logistics to better match participant needs.
Deborah (board member) reported that the first bunko night was successful with about 24–25 attendees across six tables and recommended repeating the event with a shorter timeframe. "We had the first, and it's a success, 24 people attended 6 tables... we started at 4 and it lasted until 7," she said; members suggested shortening the event to two to three hours to avoid competing with dinnertime.
Staff reported the cooking club drew 27 attendees and featured a demonstration by Sandra Lewis from Brookhaven College’s culinary program; the new Saturday matinee program is already full for its first offering. The board discussed starting mahjong instruction and agreed three specific lessons are appropriate to get beginners started.
Registration for the October craft fair opened to residents at the meeting; staff said they will cap initial registration at 75 tables (with both 6‑foot and 12‑foot options) and operate a waiting list as needed. Members also confirmed plans for a pop‑up park picnic open to the broader community and discussed outreach through instructors and volunteers to promote events.
Members raised a concern about music volume and content in shared rooms after one participant described disruptive high noises in the craft area; staff said music can be turned off or muted in individual rooms on request. "We could turn it on and then kill it in the room... if y'all don't want music in a room, someone can just tell us and you could cut the music in that room," a staff member said. Other participants said many members do enjoy live or recorded music at events.
No formal votes were taken on program scheduling; board members asked staff to collect participant feedback and adjust event times, snack contributions and room setups before the next meeting.
