Robert Doring and Becky suggested limiting outreach to parks that recently received upgrades so the board could collect before-and-after evidence for grant writing and council matching requests.
Separately, board members announced the Parks Foundation and Ocean Shores Library purchased two pickleball sets (paddles and balls) that residents can check out with a library card for one week to try the sport. The board said this partnership aims to encourage use of newly added pickleball courts.
The board also announced a parks board vacancy and scheduled interviews for four candidates; interviews were set for the next Friday with one board member and two city administration representatives participating under a new ordinance that changed how boards conduct interviews. The student-liaison seat remains open after Rocky Elton served as a first liaison; staff contacted the school principal to recruit a new student liaison.
No formal votes were taken; the board agreed to move the outreach proposal to new business for a future meeting and to prepare a formal plan for on-site outreach and survey questions.
