Fannin County closes 2017 public-safety plate account as new 2023 account becomes available

Finance staff (Miss Walker) told the board that the 2017 public-safety plate funds had been depleted and that the county must first exhaust the old account before beginning to use proceeds collected under the 2023 renewal. When asked for a figure, staff said the 2023 public-safety plate account currently contains "a little over 1,600,000.0" (as read during the meeting).
A motion to adopt the resolution to close the 2017 public-safety plate account was made and seconded; the board approved the action by voice vote.
Staff did not provide a detailed expenditure plan for the 2023 funds in the meeting; commissioners asked general questions and the board moved the administrative resolution to close the old account and activate spending from the renewed 2023 account.
