Lincoln County commissioners approved a slate of grants, resolutions and equipment/service agreements during the meeting, authorizing staff to apply for and accept state and association grants and to enter service contracts needed by emergency services.
The board approved an ACCG preapproved safety grant application for $2,500 to purchase three portable radios for the Office of Emergency Services; Director Broom said the purchase will require an additional $485 from the general fund. The commission also approved a resolution endorsing an “open roads quick clearance” policy and authorized application for a $20,000 Georgia Department of Transportation traffic-incident-management grant to buy related equipment.
Emergency management funds and equipment maintenance
The board accepted $18,967 from the Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) for 2024 and approved application for the 2025 EMPG in the same amount; meeting remarks noted the funds offset emergency management staff costs. The commission also approved two Stryker stretcher maintenance/service agreements: an eight-month contract through June 30, 2026 in the amount of $3,312 and a subsequent 12-month contract (July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027) in the amount of $4,968, both to be paid from the general fund.
Motions and authorizations
Commissioners moved and approved motions to apply for and accept the ACCG safety grant, to adopt resolution 2025-10.09.18 endorsing the open roads quick-clearance policy, to apply for the GDOT TIM grant of $20,000, to accept the EMPG funds and to authorize the Stryker service agreements. All motions passed by voice vote.
Implementation notes
Directors said the grants and agreements were discussed previously in a work session. The emergency services and finance offices were authorized to execute the necessary grant documents and contracts.
