Planning Commission grants special-exception sign approval for Aspirus clinic site

The Village of Weston Planning Commission approved a special exception Monday to permit replacement wall signage at the Aspirus clinic site and an adjacent business (Open MRI) at 4005 Community Drive Center.
Staff explained the request was necessary because the proposed wall sign exceeds the local wall-signage area limit for that portion of the building. Staff also noted both new signs are smaller than the previous signage installed when the building was constructed. The Open MRI sign remains at the site; staff said the applicant worked with the site owner and sign vendor to determine an acceptable design.
Commission discussion was brief and supportive. Commissioner Zagami moved to approve a special exception for Graphic House Inc. (sign vendor/installer) to exceed maximum permitted wall sign area; Commissioner Jordan seconded. The motion carried on a voice vote.
No members of the public spoke on the item during the meeting.
