SOMERS, N.Y. — The Somers Central School District will continue participating in a regional planning process, the board said at its Oct. 7 workshop, but it has not committed district funds to the plan.
Dr. Bronstein, a district administrator, told the board that following discussions after the Sept. 30 meeting he “certified that the Somers Central School District will continue the activities and active participation in the regional planning conversations related to the activities that are labeled 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, and 1.4.” He said the district posted a timeline graphic and supporting materials on its website and opened a public comment period that ran through Sept. 26.
The district emphasized that remaining engaged at this stage does not equate to a financial commitment. A board speaker noted the ongoing conversations could lead to “potential some co-service agreements with the BOCES going forward” and that the district would later determine whether such agreements would be in its best interest.
The board said it will continue to review community input and district objectives before making any commitments. The district did not provide a timeline or a vote on formal approval of specific regional-plan expenditures at the workshop.
