Derek Lowe, public information coordinator for the Martin County School District, opened the district presentation by announcing that each of the district’s three high schools was named a “Best High School” by U.S. News & World Report, with Jensen Beach ranking in the top 16% nationally and the other high schools also improving year‑over‑year.

Chief Financial Officer Carter Morrison summarized the school board’s adopted 2025–26 millage rate of 5.177 mills, down roughly a half‑mill from the prior year’s 5.75 mills. Morrison said the district reprioritized its budget to reduce capital millage from about 1.5 to 0.95 mills and that the district remained essentially level funded overall; he credited voter approval of a sales tax that supports capital for district projects.

Mark Secrist, director of facilities and planning, said the Stuart Middle School renovation (phases 1–3) is complete, students occupy the renovated gym and campus closeout is underway. He said Murray Middle School’s architect and contractor at‑risk have been selected and design work is beginning; the project will proceed through schematic and construction documents before the district presents a guaranteed maximum price (GMP). For Warfield, Secrist said staff are preparing procurement documents to begin the architect/contractor selection and the design process.

Secrist also said district facilities are available for organized youth sports and that community groups should contact his office to arrange use outside school hours.
