PV Schools shows results of summer 2025 bond projects; officials say over 350 projects completed

District facilities staff presented a visual and financial update on bond-funded construction and maintenance work completed over the summer, saying the district completed more than 350 projects during the summer construction window.
Drew Davis, the district's facilities lead, told the board projects were prioritized by school input, safety, security, and life expectancy of components. "A majority of the projects were completed in the 65 days of summer vacation...Over 350 projects were completed this summer," he said.
Completed work highlighted by the presentation included flooring replacements (polished concrete, luxury vinyl tile and carpet squares), 180 classroom HVAC unit replacements and upgrades to multiple HVAC plants, restroom remodels at 12 Shadow Mountain restrooms and other sites, parking-lot and track resurfacing, playground-surface and sports-court upgrades, shade canopies, and marquee/electrical improvements. Dr. Davis also noted the district received School Facilities Division (SFD) building-renewal grants for several large projects, including weatherization at North Canyon and HVAC/piping upgrades at Greenway Middle School; the North Canyon weatherization included SFD funds totaling nearly $1.7 million.
Special projects shown in before-and-after photos included a new outdoor-learning area at Palomino Primary; new restrooms at Sunset Canyon for the James P. Lee program; and a remodeled Greenway Middle School kitchen and cafeteria. The presentation included a total capital figure for the summer work of approximately $44,596,374, with SFD grant dollars reducing the district's net outlay.
Board members asked procedural and equity questions at the end of the presentation, including whether translation services were provided for Indian Bend community steering committee meetings; facilities staff confirmed translation support would be provided for parents if needed. Facilities and finance staff thanked voters for the bond authorization that makes the work possible and noted that remaining authorizations from the 2023 bond will be used in coming years.
