Keith Baker, capital project administrator for Martin County, told the joint meeting that several county construction projects are active or under design and that Charlie Lane Park and its boat ramps will remain closed through 2026 while improvements are built.
The county plans to increase boat and passenger-car parking at Charlie Lane, replace the boat ramps and add a pergola along the water, Baker said. He pointed meeting members to alternative boat ramps shown on the project materials.
Baker also summarized the Port Salerno Peninsula Improvements, which focus on drainage upgrades and sidewalk replacement where sidewalks are broken or fail to meet ADA standards; the project includes coordination with the utilities department and installation of low-pressure force mains in parts of the neighborhood.
He showed before-and-after photos from resurfacing work in Jensen Beach’s Leilani Heights, noting contractor JW Cheatham completed the resurfacing. Baker described the Sun Trail project — a 12-foot multiuse trail being built with the Florida Department of Transportation that will link Jonathan Dickinson State Park to Sea Branch Preserve State Park — and a conversion of the three‑leg intersection at Sunset Trail and High Meadow to a roundabout.
Baker closed by inviting questions and handing the presentation to other county staff for environmental updates.
