The finance committee unanimously approved a resolution authorizing Angie's Place to provide mandated annual wellness checks for Aurora Police Department sworn personnel for Jan. 1–Dec. 31, 2026.
LaDonna Carr, director of training and development, told the committee the selection came after a competitive review of five providers. "This is a mandate from the state. They want us to make sure that our officers are mentally fit, and they have an annual wellness check to make sure they're able to perform their duties," Carr said.
Sergeant Kaylee Young, who served on the three‑person selection panel, told the committee the unanimous decision favored Angie's Place because of its scheduling capacity and the number of licensed providers. "Angie's Place has multiple locations that were a little bit closer to the police department… They also have approximately 21 licensed providers, which was a significant amount, considering we have close to 350 police officers that are sworn right now," Young said.
Committee members asked for additional documentation, including the statement of work and hourly rates; Carr said pricing would come from the HR budget and staff would provide the requested breakdown. The motion to approve was moved by Alderman Carl Franco, seconded by Alderman Dan Barreiro, and passed 5‑0.
The committee record indicates the selection team conducted site visits and evaluated candidates under a scoring rubric; committee members asked staff to provide the scoring breakdown and the list of selection committee members from the prior administration.
