Bluff council backs BLM application to designate Bluff River Trail as national recreation trail

Councilmember Lou Anne said the trail “starts here in town with a couple of access points and then ends at Sand Island on that ADA Trail,” and explained the ADA-accessible section near Sand Island is a focal point for the application. Jeremy Martin of the BLM requested letters of support from private landowners and the town to strengthen the application.
A motion to approve the town’s letter of support was made and seconded. The council voted unanimously in favor; no member objected. One councilmember said, “And they are closed, so hopefully he can get it in,” referring to the application submission window.
Council asked staff to return signed letters promptly so the BLM can meet filing deadlines; staff noted a likely early-November submission date for the application.
