Bluff council adopts ordinance disconnecting 640 acres of Acton property

The Town of Bluff unanimously approved an ordinance to disconnect 640 acres identified as Section 16, Township 40 South, Range 22 East SLM, from the town's municipal jurisdiction.
The council said the rest of the lands described in the petition — roughly 8,874 acres that are associated with SITLA, the Bureau of Land Management and Saint Christopher’s — remain more significant to the town’s future and are not affected by the ordinance or by Resolution 2023-73.
At the council meeting Erin (staff member) confirmed the ordinance text was before council. The motion to adopt the ordinance was made and seconded; councilmembers then conducted a roll call. “Lou Anne. Aye,” “Jennifer. Aye,” “Britt. Aye,” “Linda. Aye,” and “Anne. Aye.” The clerk recorded the vote as unanimous.
The mayor (or presiding councilmember) said they would sign the ordinance and deliver it to the town attorney so counsel for SITLA and the Actons could be notified.
The ordinance leaves the larger, adjacent holdings referenced in the petition intact, and expressly preserves enforcement of Resolution 2023-73 as to those parcels.
Council did not discuss further implementation steps in detail at the meeting; the mayor’s office and town attorney were tasked with following up by notifying affected counsel.
