Falls City authorized abatement of a nuisance at 906 Stone Street, a property owned by Charlie Rock, following staff and legal advice that title issues and nonresponsive family members prevented donation to the land bank.
City staff explained the property could not clear title for donation because other family members listed on the title were nonresponsive. Legal advised the city to proceed with the normal abatement process, complete demolition if needed, and then file a lien against the property to recover city costs.
Councilmembers moved, seconded and approved the action with seven ayes. Staff said the abatement/demolition process and lien filing will follow the city’s usual legal process; no demolition date or estimated cost was specified at the meeting.
