The City of Otsego council on July 28 accepted the resignation of Emergency Services Director Daryl Rausch, with an effective date of Aug. 30, 2025.
City staff presented Rausch’s letter of resignation, which cited health matters, and asked the council to accept the resignation effective Aug. 30. Council members offered personal remarks and thanks. “It’s with a heavy heart that we do accept your resignation,” one council member said; others expressed gratitude for Rausch’s service and offered best wishes for his recovery.
A motion to accept the resignation, moved and seconded at the meeting, passed by voice vote. Council members noted Rausch will remain in the position through the stated effective date; no motion establishing an interim director or hiring timeline was made during the July 28 meeting.
City staff will follow up with standard personnel steps and any required recruitment or interim staffing actions, the administration said, and a budget review and staffing discussion were not scheduled at that time.
Council members’ remarks included personal thanks and acknowledgment of Rausch’s service to the community; the exact words and tributes appear in the meeting record.
